Frequently Asked Questions
What is Wet Hire / Dry Hire? When it comes to work equipment hire, “wet” equipment means that as part of the hire you also get a fully qualified operator who is familiar with this machine. With dry hire, you only hire the machine and must by law then have a suitably qualified operator (Working at Heights ticket and EWP licence) for any device that lifts over 11 metres.

Why doesn’t SEE offer a dry hire option?SEE is meticulous in the care and maintenance of our equipment which avoids the risk of any damage to the machine possibly not being identified between hires. The machine is always operated by someone who is totally familiar with the capability and operation of the equipment so avoiding any inexperienced use. Set-up is conducted efficiently and safely every time using the wealth of experience provided by our operator. You can get on with your specialist work with confidence that you are in safe hands.
What about the Financial Comparison between wet and dry hire?Of course, SEE understands you may want to compare our quote to a dry hire option but bear in mind that dry hire rates are normally set at a day rate, so you pay for a full day price whether you need the equipment for the full 8 hours or not. Dry hire rates for machines with this capability are often advertised without including the charges for floating the equipment to and from the worksite, along with time spent in loading and unloading the machinery, and familierising your operator with that particular machine. South East Elevation's wet hire option can be more cost effective than dry hire even if you have access to a qualified operator on your team.
What features does the Ruthmann telescopic knuckle boom offer? The Ruthmann brand of Cherry Pickers have a long history of safe and efficient operation in Europe and across the world. The quality of the equipment is solid and effective and provides optimal balance of working height, outreach and overall weight. Ruthmann have designed this Cherry Picker to perform multiple applications in both city and country settings by including a double knuckle boom with telescopic outreach and 360 degree rotation and an additional fly jib extension combined with bucket tilt and rotation allowing the Operator to gain access to many tight to reach areas which would not be possible from a standard Telescopic Cherry Picker. What is the difference between the Ruthmann Knuckle Boom Cherry Picker and Telescopic Cherry Pickers?Telescopic pickers move effectively out and in, like a Telescope; however, they do not have the Flexibility and Manoeuvrability to move around or under obstacles or into tight access areas. As the Ruthmann Knuckle Boom can bend at each of the 3 boom connection points, can move sideways and even rotate the bucket, it has the versatility to provide not only a height lift, but also an angled lift for both standard and tricky applications.
What working height can you reach when in the Bucket?Working height - 20,00 m; Lifting height - 18,00 m; Outreach - 10,70 m* (At a maximum for 120kg of weight in the bucket but a metre or so less as more weight is added to the basket)
Can you get into tight access areas including into residential properties? Yes, if you have gates with an opening of 2.4 metres and overhead clearance of 2.6 metres this should be possible. If in doubt, contact us and we may arrange a site inspection or video review prior to booking. Our Truck and Cherry Picker combination is the most compact truck mounted machinery on the Sunshine Coast.
What are the specs of truck and Picker? Please follow the link to Ruthmann’s YouTube Video which includes Specs of the Ruthmann Ecoline R/RS 200 Truck Mounted Cherry Picker RUTHMANN ECOLINE R/RS200 | RUTHMANN
What conditions for set-up are required?Dry conditions and a level surface are most favourable. Very boggy and sloping areas are not ideal and may require additional preparation. Contact SEE to discuss, and we may need to do a site inspection prior to booking.
Do you need to be licenced to operate a Cherry Picker?Yes, for any Cherry Picker over the height of 11 metres, a licenced Operator must be employed. At SEE, we are licenced in Working at Heights. We provide you with the benefit of the Operator being experienced at using the same machine, ensuring you get the most from your time in the basket.
Can we get copies of insurance and licence details? Yes, we will happily email copies of these out to you upon request and carry copies of the printed documents on every job site for customers to view. These can also be viewed from clicking on the PDF links below
